The Fraser Valley Community Winds is a community-based charity that comes together to contribute and build our musical skills, perform quality music, have fun, and contribute to community spirit through music! Position: Music Director (posted June 25, 2024)
Rehearsal Schedule: Thursdays 7:15pm – 9:15pm; season operates September through June
Rehearsal Location: Abbotsford, BC
Duties:
- Conduct / lead / teach group rehearsals
- Conduct / Perform in concerts
- Curate and process new sheet music
- Participate in monthly Executive Team meetings
- Assist with logistics of concert productions
- Inspire, motivate, and educate members toward higher musical excellence
- Educate members to develop better tone, pitch, rhythm, and musicality
- Develop positive rapport and connections with members
- Nurture a constructive and safe environment for members of all backgrounds
- Promote the organization and concerts
- Assist with recruiting / retaining new members
Please note we are a registered charity and this is an unpaid position. An honorarium may be provided annually; while it is not currently guaranteed, we are building toward being able to offer a salary based on fee schedules for artist professional services (e.g., CARFAC BC, CFM). Application reviews will start July 27, 2024. A short list of candidates will be selected to participate in an interview and a live try-out with the group in September.
